CR Enterprise -- CR Holdings' First Listed Company
In 1986, CR Holdings acquired a stake in Winland Investment Limited, a then relatively small Hong Kong-listed company with a market capitalisation of less than HK$40 million. At that time, Winland Investment had both outstanding liabilities and unsettled lawsuits. Its only asset was an old factory in Kwai Chung. In March 1990, CR Holdings introduced new directors to the Board of Winland. Within the same year, CR Holdings issued new shares of Winland to raiseHK$108 million. CR Holdings then demolished the old factory in Kwai Chung and obtained a non-guaranteed bank loan of HK$450 million to redevelop the factory site.

By mid of 1992, the construction of the Kwai Chung Industrial Building was completed and leased out. For the first time after years of loss, the company reported a profit of HK$360 million, paving a solid foundation for future growth. In September 1992, CR Holdings acquired Sha Tin Cold Storages and Pak Sik Godown at a consideration of HK$800 million, the two companies then became wholly-owned subsidiaries of Winland Investment which was renamed as China Resources Enterprise, Limited (CR Enterprise) thereafter.
